Meet the Team

Mel Scott - Charity Founder and Family & Care Services Lead

I am an Occupational Therapist, with over 20 years of experience working in mental health services. As a qualified teacher, I am experienced in offering study days and learning events as well as facilitating groups. My own journey to motherhood has been a difficult one, experiencing infertility, early pregnancy loss, and the stillbirth of our son during labour. My own experiences of loss shaped me, and I started to use my skills to help others. I have since trained as a birth and bereavement doula, supporting many families through their loss/pregnancy after loss, and I offer 3 Step Rewind. I was founding trustee of Towards Tomorrow Together, which I set up with funds raised at our son’s funeral in 2009.
I am Mum to the memory of Charley, Poppet, and Finley and raising our beautiful rainbow daughter Toni.

Debbie Gill - Chair of Trustees

I specialise in Business Support with extensive experience of financial management, business development and procurement in the Local Government, the Constabulary and Corporate Business.
I became involved with the charity after the loss of my daughter Ava who died unexpectedly at 7 days old, and have been instrumental in supporting Mel to enable the growth of the charity to the important service offering it is today.  As well as my voluntary role as the chair of trustees, I provide business support to the charity for fundraising, budget support, marketing, event planning, and resource co-ordination.

Cathy Chiplen - Trustee & Grief Support specialist

I am a Complementary Therapist with over 15 years of experience. I have trained extensively, and specialise in, End of Life Care, and in supporting grief and bereavement. I have worked with the charity for several years as a Therapist, and was appointed as a Trustee in 2019. My own grief journey does not include baby loss, but I have experienced very close bereavements, and have supported a close member of my family through their baby loss journey. This was my initial impetus to join the charity, to support others experiencing such devastating losses. My main roles with TTT are to provide complementary therapies, holding baby loss memorials, and co-facilitating our baby loss support group. I also offer Grief Listening and can help families to find everyday ways to honour their little ones.

Joy Horner - Trustee

I am a pregnancy, birth and postnatal consultant, specialising in supporting complex situations such as trauma and bereavement. I worked as a midwife for 21 years and as a registered nurse 16 years before that. I have a diploma in antenatal education and have been teaching classes for 20 years. I speak at study days and conferences internationally. I have 2 grown up children, one a traumatic surgical birth and the second a vaginal birth after caesarean. I specialise in antenatal support and education for pregnancy after previous trauma, and assisting families on their healing journeys after birth. I offer 3 Step Rewind technique. I was one of the founding trustees of Towards Tomorrow Together.
